This page sets the limits of what we publish and what you should do with it. It is short on purpose, and none of it is an excuse for getting something wrong.

Journalism, not advice
Everything here is general news reporting. A story about a regulator’s ruling is not legal advice, a story about a company’s results is not investment advice, a story about a supplement being pulled from sale is not medical advice, and a piece about an airline rewriting its compensation terms is not a substitute for reading your own booking conditions.
We write to tell you what happened and what the documents say. We do not know your circumstances, your contract, your tax position or your medical history, and no article can account for them. Before you act on money, health, law, safety or employment, speak to somebody qualified who can see your actual situation. If our reporting is what sends you to that person, the article did its job.
Accurate when we published it
Every claim is checked before it goes up rather than after a reader queries it, and no story runs on a single official statement, however senior the source. That house rule and the checks behind it are described in our fact-checking process. What we cannot do is stop the world moving after we hit publish.
A recall gets extended. A figure in a filing is restated by the company three weeks later. A patch note is edited. A minister leaves. A page we linked to is quietly rewritten, which is why we archive the version we relied on. We do not warrant that any article is complete, current or fit for a particular purpose, and an old story carries its original date for exactly that reason. Where something significant changes, we add a dated update rather than editing the past in silence.
Reporting, analysis and opinion are not the same thing
News is what we established, with the sourcing inside the copy. Analysis is judgement built on that reporting, labelled as analysis, and still sourced. Opinion is argument, and it belongs to whoever signed it rather than to the newsroom.
An opinion piece is one person’s view and does not represent a house position or the view of any other writer here. Reviews say how long we used the thing and whether the unit was bought, borrowed or supplied, because that changes how much weight a reader should give the verdict. Links out and other people’s material
We link heavily, because a citation is how you check our work: the filing, the register entry, the court listing, the archived copy of the page a company has since changed. A link means we read it and used it. It does not mean we vouch for the organisation behind it or for anything else published there.
We have no control over sites we link to and we are not responsible for their content, their accuracy, or what they do with your data once you arrive. Quotes, photographs, documents and embedded posts belonging to other people are used under licence or as fair dealing and fair use allow, with attribution to the owner. Embedded material can be altered or deleted by whoever owns it after we publish, which occasionally leaves a gap in an old story that is not our doing. Advertising and affiliate links
Advertising pays for this site. Adverts are visibly adverts, sponsored articles are labelled above the headline and never given a review score, and the label stays on permanently rather than disappearing when the campaign ends. Nothing sold commercially is editorial endorsement, and no advertiser gets a preview of coverage or a veto over it.
Where an affiliate link earns us a commission, that is disclosed on the page carrying it. The order of a buying guide is never decided by which link pays best, which has cost us money more than once and will again. The commercial rules, including the categories we turn away, are on our advertise with us page.
If we got something wrong
Tell us, and be as blunt as you like. What helps most is the headline, the sentence you dispute and whatever settles it, and the fastest route is support@thekissingpunk.com with the word correction at the front of the subject line.
Clear errors are fixed the same day with a dated note on the article saying what it said before. Disputed ones take longer because we go back to the source rather than take either side’s word. What happens after a report arrives, including who signs off the note, is in our corrections policy.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from anything you did or did not do in reliance on something published here, or from any inability to reach the site. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited as described in our terms of service.
Nothing on this page removes a right the law will not let us remove. Questions about any of it go to the same address as everything else, support@thekissingpunk.com, which editors read themselves.
